13/8/06 - Queensland on Show!

Peter Beattie meets McCarthy Group MD, Stephen McCarthy

The exceptional growth in the Queensland economy in recent years has brought about its own challenges, not least of all how to meet supply and demand in terms of the skills and resources needed to fuel the growth. The influx of people into the Sunshine State has led to increases in employment and wages as well excellent opportunities in many property markets throughout the state.

One recent initiative to address the demand and supply imbalance was the Queensland on Show event held from 11 to 13 August 2006 at the Dome in Homebush Bay, and that was positioned as “Your ticket to a new life in Queensland”.

The growth trends that have emerged in Queensland were identified early by McCarthy Group, and have resulted in client investments totaling some $1.6 Billion at historic values. The fact that most of this investment was New South Wales-derived and ended up in Queensland was not lost on Premier Peter Beattie when he was introduced to McCarthy Group Managing Director, Stephen McCarthy at the Exhibitor’s opening event (the interstate rivalry even extends to cross border residential property investment!).

The exhibitors were delighted with the attendance and interest shown at the event, and what is certain is that the flow of skills and investment funds to Queensland is set to continue well into the future
