Mother’s Day is celebrated all
over the world in a tradition that honours
motherhood and mothers and that traces
its origins to ancient Greek and Roman
times*.
Mother’s Day is thought to have
originated from a custom of mother worship
in Ancient Greece, which had an annual
festival to Cybele, a great mother of
Greek gods. This festival was held around
the Vernal Equinox around Asia Minor and
eventually in Rome itself from 15 March
to 18 March.
The Ancient Romans also had another
holiday called Matronalia, that was dedicated
to the Ancient Roman Goddess, Juno. Mothers
were usually given gifts on this day.
The Christian calendar marks the day as
Mothering Sunday.
Globally, the celebration today is most
commonly held on the second Sunday of
May, as shown in the national table below.
While chocolates, flowers, jewellery
or even day-spa visits are most welcome
gifts, have you ever wondered about a
gift for the mother of your children that
would pay off and keep giving on Mother’s
Days long into the future?
Have you ever thought about how your
partner would appreciate it if you set
in motion a process that would keep you
both more comfortable in retirement, and
where your children would not have to
worry about how you make ends meet?
If you think that buying an investment
property seems like a rather large gift,
what if we were to show you that it could
be achieved for $100 per week? Could you
find that amount? For an investment that
will start giving at the time that you
need it most?
What will you be able to afford come
Mother’s Day in 2025? Or 2035? One
sure-fire recipe to change the outcomes
in your future is to take decisive actions
in your present. I hope we’ve given
you something (unexpected) to think about
this Mother’s Day.
