The McCarthy Interview

Take time out this Labour Day to reflect on whether you are working for money, or if your money’s working for you. (Labour Day is on October 5 in NSW, SA and ACT.)

Labour Day is a public holiday that commemorates the granting of the eight-hour working day for Australians. Unions, community groups and the public join politicians and other leaders in celebrating the agreement that was reached in 1856 that paved the way for improved working conditions across the country.

The concept of Labour Day was born in an era where Big Capital had all the money and assets, and exploited workers, who worked for a pittance in harsh conditions. Big Politics at the time did little to protect Labour, which is why the workers themselves forced changes for better working conditions.

Many people are conditioned to accept that they are simply destined to be workers in a big system that is organised and run for another party’s benefit. They are grateful for their wages that enable them to have a roof over their heads, meet their living costs, and maybe put something away for a holiday or a rainy day.

There is another group of people, however, perhaps 10 per cent of Australian taxpayers, who have decided that they will take responsibility for themselves rather than relying on an employer.

It is now possible for a Labourer to have access to Capital, and thanks to government legislation, to put this money to work in the generation of income.

Investment property in Australia is a classic example of how people do this. The vast majority of McCarthy Group clients are your average, hard-working Australian families who have discovered the secret of putting money to work for you, meaning that over time, you can work less, and let other forms of income take over. This is called Passive Income.

As you rest from your labours on Labour Day, you should ask yourself the question, “Am I working for money, or is money working for me?” The difference between the two is a ‘Paradigm Shift’, because this is how far apart they are in concept and meaning.

The good news is that you can decide today that instead of simply working for money to make ends meet, that you can instead gain access to money and put it to work to meet your goals.
